Cheers to our achievement.

Monday, 25th October, 2010.

There has been a sharp decrease in the Polio cases in India as reported by the World Health Organisation. Only 39 cases have been reported this year in comparison to 498 cases last year.

I think it is commendable. The immunisation campaigns have been really successful and their efforts can be seen in the form of such fantastic results.
It shows the nation's commitment to eradicate this terrible disease from India.
It is an achievement for India as India, together with Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan, is one of the four polio-endemic countries left in the world.
Type 2 polio virus has been eradicated and type 1 is soon to be eradicated. In the states which have reported the maximum cases of Polio are able to fight out this deadly disease. In Bihar the polio cases have gone down to 9 from 117 last year and in Uttar Pradesh the cases have gone down to 10 from 569.

The Indian Polio Eradication is one of the most successful public health initiatives in history.
I would like to congratulate the country and its people on this success and specially Amitabh Bachchan who has helped create more awareness about Polio through his campaigns and has convinced people to treat this as most important.
Cheers to India's efforts!

Another disgraceful act.

Sunday, 24th October, 2010.

I was totally disgusted to read about a  9-year-old girl being molested by her teacher, who gave her therapies for brain development. The girl resides in Shahdara, East Delhi and it was last week when she disclosed this tale of horror to her mother.
I have already raised this issue in my earlier blog post but I could not stop myself to write about another such incident.

How can men do this to such little girls?
They fail to understand that such shameful actions can have such adverse effect on the minds of young girls.Such men lack morals and values and do not even think twice of their actions.
This little girl was in complete shock for over a month and was not even talking to anyone. This is the extent to which they are affected. The damage is beyond repair. They even go into depression which further leads to a feeling of self-rejection and self-hatred.

I think men should atleast inculcate some morals and sensitivity if they have lost them. They should understand that such shameful acts show their lack of respect towards the opposite gender.

Disgraceful!

Tuesday, 19th October, 2010.

I was disgusted when I read that a 30-yr-old woman had been
raped by a doctor in the ICU of Lotus Hospital in Mumbai. To make it worse he had shown her obscene clips and also made a recording of her.
The hospital instead of standing for the right thing is trying to cover up the incident and claming that the lady has mental problems.
This so sick and disgusting. They should punish the doctor who was supposed to take care of the ill woman and not do something immoral and inhuman. It is a heinous and shameful act!
Another woman was molested by a doctor in Malviya Nagar in New Delhi. The doctor has been arrested and terminated and I hope he gets the punishment he deserves for being so unethical.

A third case which came to my notice in today's newspaper was about a 26-yr-old woman who was molested by her father-in- law. I cannot believe this. This is so disgraceful, it is horrifying to see that men can go down to such levels and cannot treat women with respect.

It is the patriarchal mindset that wants women to be objects and under the control of men. They treat women as sex-objects and cannot treat them with dignity and respect. I feel this is atrocious and unforgivable.
In the year 2008, 20,000 rape cases were reported and every hour there are atleast 20 crimes committed against women across the country.
Earlier women thought that places outside their houses for instance the work places or parties were not safe. Unfortunately, now their own houses and the hospitals which are places of trust, security and protection no longer fulfill their role.
All this is extremely disturbing and terrible.
I think men should learn to respect women and should mend their ways!

If you need some INSPIRATION.

Sunday, 10th October, 2010.

I was actually able to look at myself with different eyes after I saw this video of Nick Vujicic, a man without limbs. Yes, you read it right. This man in the video has no limbs yet he loves living life and is happy.
He likes swimming, golfing, fishing and believes that life has no limits. He thinks human spirit is capable of handling so much more than we realize it actually can.

He has no complains and is thankful for all he has.Wow, I was amazed when I saw his attitude towards life. He is a living inspiration for all of us.

If I look at myself, I am always complaining for something or the other that I don't have, things that go wrong with me, any problem at home, anything not going according to my wish or any silly thing I can complain about. After watching this video I found that I was so lucky to have a perfect body, where I can do everything and anything, all on my own without depending on anyone. But,I am not thankful as most of the time I am complaining and asking for more comfortable things and privileges.

I guess most of us miss being grateful and thankful for whatever we have and we are too busy thinking of any new reason to complain. We are so much busy that we hardly live LIFE.We give up too easily when we have to face challenges or strive for things. We get disappointed and discouraged very easily.
But Nick says: "If I fail, I try again, and again and again.."

It is so nice to see a man with so much confidence and positivity to stand up and talk to people about his life and inspire them who have no physical deformity but are people who are ungrateful and full of negativity.
Don't you think it's always the other way round. We never see people like him talking to us with that confidence, telling us to face things strongly, to have faith in ourselves and to love living life.
But he is all there to inspire our minds and remind us that life is so much more than just complaining and being unhappy.
I am sure he will force you to think and look at yourself differently.
Cheers to his positive attitude and outlook towards life!
